Event Description
Trauma can
affect children in many different ways and in several different degrees.
Children often possess different levels of resiliency that protect them
long-term when they face significant trauma. This
training will examine sources of resilience in children, responses and
conditions that foster resilience and the relationship between protective
factors and resilient children. It also
offers suggestions for what parents and caregivers can do to promote resilience
in children.
1. The participant will be
able to recognize the theoretical and research background of childhood
resilience as a protective factor.
2. The participant will be
able to recall the dynamic factors that determine were resiliency comes from in
children.
3. The participant will be
able to distinguish how resiliency is a factor in children who have experienced
trauma or abuse.
4. The participant will be
able to interpret how learning in the child and environmental factors can
impact and change resiliency in children.
5. The participant will be
able to recognize how a community can respond and build resiliency in
children.
